Pain Management / Injury Rehabilitation
Therapeutic massage has long been recognized as an effective complement to chiropractic care as it facilitates the healing process by enhancing circulation, relaxing muscle spasms, and improving cellular nutrition by flushing waste products from tissues. It can alleviate certain types of muscular pain and provides relief from the negative effects of stress.
Problems arise when the bones in the spine become misaligned—known as subluxations— and impede nerve impulses. This can result in pain, muscle spasms and can affect the organs that are innervated by the entrapped nerves.
Chiropractic doctors focus primarily on correcting subluxations in the spine, but most agree that it is also important to treat soft tissues such as muscles and tendons to prevent and correct spinal misalignment and lessen the pain. Misalignment can result from trauma or postural distortions that may occur while sitting at a computer or other activities that involve repetitive movements such as gardening.
Both approaches are holistic in nature and are based on the belief in the innate healing power of the body. They help keep the body in proper alignment and ensure a free flow of nerve impulses and circulation. Together these two approaches provide you with a more complete system of healthcare.
